The aim of the collaborative project “Displacement and Refugee Research: Networking and Transfer” (FFVT) is to strengthen interdisciplinary research on displacement and refugees in Germany. To this end, the project brings together research on migration, development, conflict and violence, climate change, health, governance and human rights, as well as other fields. In this way, FFVT supports the networking of researchers and institutions working on the topic of displacement: to this end, international workshops and conferences are regularly organised to bring researchers from different disciplines and regions into dialogue. Furthermore, the internationalisation of academic activities in Germany is being advanced through an international fellowship programme. Beyond personal networking, however, institutional collaborations are also being expanded, and the initiative helps shape work within global networks such as the International Migration Research Network (IMISCOE) and the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM).
of institutions and researchers working on the topic of displacement. To enable academic training in the future, FFVT is committed to networking master’s programmes on migration at German universities and regularly organises a summer school to support early-career researchers in migration and refugee studies. FFVT also aims to further advance the internationalisation of academic activities in Germany and therefore offers, among other things, a global fellowship programme. Dialogue between academia, practitioners, the media and politics is another key element of FFVT’s work. The annual “Global Flight Report” has quickly established itself as a point of reference for the media, politicians and the public. Through all these measures, FFVT aims to contribute to establishing a sustainable infrastructure for research on displacement and refugees in Germany, thereby facilitating excellent academic work.
